Thoughts on Beau Good evening all! I hope you have all been well and enjoying this early summer weather. It’s been
a little hot for Grammy at times. I love 70 degree weather myself. I have some sad news
to share with you. Beau’s precious little friend Aaron passed away a couple of weeks ago.
His little body was tired and just couldn’t take it any more. Not only was it very hard for
his family but it was also hard on all those that had cared for him over the last few years and for those families that had
gotten to know him and his family. It tears at our hearts to see another child lost to this horrible beast
cancer. Please keep Aaron’s family in your prayers. I know Beau was waiting for
him when he got to heaven and showed him around God’s big playground and introduced him to Lillie and Evangeline.
Not only do they have family members that have gone before them to look after them they have each other.
Once a year, the Childlife folks hold a “Cherished
Lives” ceremony to honor those children that have passed away in the last 2 years. Beau was part
of the group honored last year and was once again honored this year. While it is an emotional time it is
also a special time for family and friends to remember their little ones. A guest speaker shared memories
of her son lost 13 years ago and one of the childlife staff members sang. Then family and friends had the opportunity to go
up say something about their child and light a candle in their memory. Of course, Beau had a lot of family
members and a few friends there to remember him. They provide a room for the younger children to go during the ceremony and
they made heart pillows. Kayla and Brianna both made pillows to take home with them as a remembrance of Beau and the day.
Someone had made blankets which were given to the siblings/cousins as they left – such a wonderful thing to do to remember
these precious little ones. Refreshments followed and families had time to talk and remember their loved
one. I
have thought a lot about Beau over the last few weeks. I have a picture of Kayla and Beau on my desktop
standing close together – Kayla is behind Beau with her arms around him and they are both looking off to the side.
Everyone that sees it thinks they are brother/sister because they look so much alike in this picture. They
acted like brother and sister and Kayla called Beau her “brudder”. Kayla just turned 5 yr old
a couple of weeks ago and as I watched her that day my mind kept going back to Beau and imaging him there with her at her
birthday party helping her to open her presents (Jen was beside her helping her with her gifts). They were
just a year apart in age and I could see them running around Jumpin Parties laughing and squealing with delight going from
one thing to the next. Kayla will tell you Beau was there. He is with her everyday at
school and every where she goes and he watches over her at night while she sleeps. Beau will be 4 yrs old
this summer and in my mind’s eye I see him blowing out his candles and laughing and playing with his friends.
I see him hitting golf balls and riding in Grand-dad’s golf cart, riding with his Dadda in his big truck chasing
down the hunting dogs at the hunting club, feeding the birds with Ma and Hodgie and going to Wally World with Momma, Grammy
and Kayla. Sometimes it is still hard to believe he is not with us anymore. Kayla and
I were looking at the video of him at the fire station a few months ago and she said, “Grammy I wish it(video) was magic
and I could just jump in there and give Beau a big hug and play with him – wouldn’t that be
so cool”. Yes, Kayla that would be so cool. I wish I could just jump in that video
and grab “Beau Diddley” and give him lots of hugs and kisses and play with him for a little while.
But, since I can’t do that I will have to be content to remember all the hugs and kisses I did get and all the
good times I had with him. God bless!!! Love Grammy
