Fun Summer Day With Family Good afternoon all! It’s been a dreary day today. It almost seems like it could
snow but I know it’s not cold enough. It’s a lot different than my memories for today’s
update. The summer Beau turned 1 yr. old Auntie Nay and Cousin David came to spend a day with us.
It was a hot sunny summer day. Grammy has one of those above ground pools – bought it for
the kids to enjoy. Cousin David brought his swim trunks and he, Beau, Kayla, Auntie Julie and Aunt Essie
had a great time in the pool. Grammy bought a float especially for the little ones to use when they were
in the pool. Kayla was old enough for swimmies but Beau had to use the little float. Mommy
lathered him up with sunscreen and in the pool he went. We call Cousin David big Dave. He’s
17, 6ft 8in and 293 lbs. He’s a football player with ambitions for the NFL and we believe he’ll
make it. He may be big but he’s a big teddy bear with a heart of gold. He loved/loves
Beau with a passion and was so excited when he was born. He lives in Kernersville so he didn’t get
to see Beau much but he was so excited he finally had a boy cousin – he had been the only boy it’s all girls you
see. This wonderful sunny summer day he played and played with Beau. He’d pull
Beau around in the pool and they’d splash and play. Kayla and Auntie Essie would crawl on Big Dave’s
back and he’d throw them up in the air. They played until they were exhausted and everyone finally
got out and got dressed. Big Dave played with Beau and Kayla while G-Paw fixed hotdogs and hamburgers.
He was the horsey – a Clydesdale horse – and they would take turns riding on his back. I
think Beau was a little scared. As I said, Big Dave may be big but he is so gentle with the kids and they
love him so much. It was a wonderful day filled with very special memories and we will be forever thankful
for this day. Psalm
100:1-3 & 5 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness;
Know that the Lord if God. It is He who made us, and we are his. For the Lord is good
and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. I have had some people say – how can you be so happy so
positive with all that has happened? God give us the strength to meet each day. We continue
to thank and praise God each day for He is good all the time – all the time He is good. As the Bible
verse states above, God’s love endures forever. We will never understand why our precious little
Beau had to leave us so soon. But, I know I continue to remind myself everyday of the wonderful ways in
which God has used and continues to use Beau to touch peoples’ lives. I told you about cousin David
– big Dave in my update today. David loves football and has wanted to play in the NFL for as long
as I can remember. He’s worked hard for a long time to reach that goal but Beau’s journey this
past really impacted David. It broke his heart to see Beau go thru everything he did – but he also
saw how Beau met each day with courage – courage beyond what you would expect of a 2 yr old. David
is not one to express his feelings outwardly but he grieved for his little cousin and the love he had for him grew and grew.
As the end grew near and Beau finally went home to be with Jesus, David became more determined to work hard to reach
his goals for his football career. Auntie Nay said it seemed to her that he was determined to work even
harder to be his very best and she felt he was doing it for his Beau. Beau may not be here with us but
I believe he is walking beside Jesus and each day he is cheering David on when he’s lifting weights or working on his
agility skills. I know Beau is watching over his family and cheering us all on as we met each day head
on with all that it brings – good or bad. Yes, we continued to be blessed to have this precious little
warrior in our lives. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Pretending Good evening everyone! I found a picture today that reminded me of a time Beau and Kayla were both at Grammy’s
house. I have a small play kitchen for the kids and it sits in the dining room. This
particular day they were playing with it. You know cooking and pretending they were serving me food.
I had to pretend like I was eating and wanted seconds on the food. My computer desk is also in a
corner of the dining room. I work from home some so that area is setup like an office. Beau
and Kayla were also playing and pretending they were the mommy and daddy. They were cooking but I think
they decided to pretend they were working. They were giggling and laughing – sounding like they might
be doing something they shouldn’t be – so I went to check on them. They were trying to get
Beau up in the chair. I got my camera and got this cute picture of them. Beau had the
cutest smile and he looked like –hey Grammy whatca doing? They were so sweet and most of the time
played well together. Kayla could be bossy sometimes but Beau could come right back at her.
He stood up for himself. Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times… Beau and Kayla really loved
each other. In them you could see unconditional love. Children are like that - that
childish innocence. Beau loved unconditionally. That was just Beau. We
can learn a lot from our children. Love each other unconditionally. Don’t put
constraints or boundaries or conditions on our love. Love someone just because you love them – not
expecting anything in return. As I have said before, in the end all that matters is your family and friends.
Love them with all your heart. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Lets Play Doctor Good evening everyone! As you all know, we go to “MalMart” or Wally World a lot.
The kids always thought they had to have something every time we went. Thank goodness they had a
section of inexpensive toys where we could usually find something to satisfy them. On one of our trips
to “MalMart”, Jennifer bought Beau and Kayla a doctor kit to keep at Grammy’s house. This
was after Beau had started his treatments and had been in the hospital enough to figure out what was going on.
He knew how to take his temperature and blood pressure and would help the each time they came in to take his vital
signs. He would hold up his arm so they could take his temp or hold out his arm so they could take his
blood pressure. Sometime he wanted the blood pressure taken on his leg so he would hold his leg out.
He even learned what they had to do to flush his line and sometimes they would let him help. He
got to be quite the little doctor. Kayla was there enough watching them work on Beau so she knew what to
do as well. Many days when I picked her up from daycare she would ask me, “Grammy are Beau’s
counts up today can I go see him?” When we got home that day from “MalMart”, they got
out the doctor’s kit and took turns taking their temperature (in the ear), listening with the stethoscope and pretending
they were doctors. They were pretty good about taking turns. Beau even took his own
temperature. They did take time out for some fries from McDonalds. It was one of those
afternoons when you weren't really doing anything special but they had a great time just being together, being kids and
having fun. 1
Samuel 20:14 But show me unfailing kindness like that of the Lord as long as I live…. God’s love and kindness flowed thru Beau to others.
He was a precious little boy with a big heart and lots of love that he shared with everyone. He blessed his family
in so many ways. Thank you Lord for sharing Beau with us and allowing us to be part of his life.
God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Beau and BriannaGood evening everyone!! Today’s update was written by Aunt Kelly. She
shares with us a few of her fond memories of Beau and time he spent with her, cousin Brianna, Grand-dad and Grandma Miller.
I hope you enjoy these memories as much as I did. God Bless!!
I have sat in front of my computer on many occasions and tried to think of the perfect story to tell everyone about Beau,
but then I thought, every memory is my favorite story. As Grammy has been doing lately, I have been looking through
all of my photos and scrapbooks and all of these wonderful memories have been re-lived! One of my favorite pictures
and memories of Beau was actually when Brianna was 2 days old. Jen and Beau came to visit her in the hospital, but Beau
was only 9 months old and he couldn't see. So, Grandma Miller picked Beau up so that he could get a good look at
Brianna. He had a huge smile on his face and just stared at her with his big blue eyes! I wish everyone could
have seen the way the two of them connected...it was unbelievable! Another memory about Beau and Brianna was the day
after his second birthday. We all went over to Grandma and Granddad's house and we got Brianna and Beau to "pose"
for a picture. They were both so cute and happy! It was great to see them play! After taking the picture,
we all went outside and watched Beau blow bubbles on his new bubble maker! He loved to blow bubbles and he was so happy
watching the bubbles float up in the air! I truly miss watching Beau smile and laugh! Romans 5:3-4 says "We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character, and character, hope." Although we miss Beau every day, we will rejoice in our suffering and know that God is holding Beau in His awesome
arms. Thank you Beau for all of the wonderful memories, we love you! Love Aunt Kelly, Uncle Brian,
and Brianna

Trip to the Museum Good afternoon all!! I continue to go thru my pictures and fond memories of our adventures over the last
two years come flooding back. In August 2006, when Beau was just a little over a year old, Jennifer, Beau,
Kayla, Aunt “Essie” (Leslie) and I went to the Children’s Museum in Rocky Mount. It is
an interactive museum so not only did we get to look at some cool things the kids got to play and have some fun.
There was a play area with a tub full of balls so of course Beau and Kayla had to crawl into it. There
was a big green stuffed alligator that you could sit on so Beau had to try him out. There were also other
play things such as a doctor’s kit, blocks, legos, etc. In glass cases, they had several different
mechanical animals such as a platypus and a housefly. You could see what made them worked.
There were two walls that looked like animal skins. They had big pieces of cloth you could put around
you so when you stood up against the wall you became invisible. There were some live fish and other animals
in small tanks. We saw wooden trains and a whole wooden circus, musical instruments, pottery, etc.
They had an area with dress up clothes and hats. Beau had to try all the hats on. We
spent a couple of hours there and had a great time. Aunt Essie was right in there playing and climbing
on everything with them as were Jennifer and Grammy. It was a fun afternoon and if I remember correctly
we had to stop at McDonalds before we left Rocky Mount. Psalm 9:1-2 I will praise you, O lord, with all my heart; I will
tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
Little did we know that
day in August 2006 what November 2006 would bring. We were just having fun and enjoying spending time together.
We didn’t spend a lot of money that day nor did we do anything fancy but that isn’t what was important.
We were together having fun and when it’s all said and done that is what is important - being with your family
and friends, enjoying each other’s company and making some wonderful memories. We have our photos
to help keep those memories alive and we’ll always cherish that day and the time we spent with Beau. God Bless!!
Love, Grammy

Best Friends
Good evening all! We didn’t get much snow here but there was snow around us. Looks
like Kayla knew what she was talking about. God made it snow for Beau and I bet Beau was right in there
helping. It sure has been cold hasn’t it! Jennifer and her 6 of her best friends
from high school went down to her dad’s place at the river Saturday afternoon for a reunion of sorts. One
couldn’t make it because of the weather. They went out to eat, played Wii and watched movies. They
had a great time getting together and talking over old times. These girls have been friends – some
since elementary school and others since junior high. They have remained friends over the years and they
have all been there for Jennifer over the past year giving her love and support thru a difficult time. That
is what real friends are about. Thanks to all of you girls for being there for Jennifer and for continuing to be there for
her. Thanks to Gary and Terry for opening up their home and making sure they were well taken care of.
Best friends are very special. Beau and Kayla were best friends. They loved each
other unconditionally. We (Jen, Beau, Kayla and Grammy) would be going somewhere in Jennifer’s car
and I’d look back and Beau and Kayla would be holding hands. Beau loved to hold Kayla’s hand
when they were riding in the car. Even when Beau wasn’t feeling up to par, he wanted to see Kayla and most of the time
she could at least make him smile if not get a little laugh out of him. Beau would share his candy with
her and she would share hers with Beau. If Kayla and I were out somewhere and she wanted Grammy to buy
her something, she would first pick out something for Beau. She always had to get something for him.
They could fuss like kids do but most of the time they had fun and would out of the blue go hug or kiss each other.
Beau may have been only 2 yr. old but he could be very thoughtful, loving and caring. Not to say
he couldn’t be a holy terror like any other 2 yr. old when he wanted to but he was smart and wise beyond his age.
I could see him growing up and watching out for “his Kayla” when they got in high school and I know he
will still do that. Psalm 55:13-14
But it is you, a man like myself,
my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God.
When it is all said and
done the most important people in the world are your family and friends. Nothing else matters.
Give you kids, your wife, your parents, your siblings, and your best friends an extra hug when you see them and let
them know how important they are to you. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

SNOW Good evening everyone!! Two weeks ago, Wednesday, January 2, Kayla told me that God was going to make it
snow for Beau. This Wednesday, January 16 was two weeks. We had brief flurries in the
very early morning hours of Thursday which was just a few hours past 2 weeks. Now it’s supposed to
snow tomorrow. Looks like Kayla was right. We had forgotten about Kayla telling us that
until this afternoon. Jennifer was reading back thru the updates and realized this Wednesday had been two
weeks. She called me and told me. I was with Kayla and I told her what she had told me two weeks ago and
that she had been right. She looked at me and said “well yes Grammy” like well I told you didn’t
you believe me. She said God told me Grammy. She was eating mini MM’s at the time.
That was Beau’s favorite candy. She looked at me and said, “Grammy does Beau have these MM’s in heaven?”
I told her I really didn’t know. She said she hoped they did they are Beau’s favorite.
I received an email from Trisha one of Beau’s nurses today. She wanted to share one of her
fond memories of Beau with us. One of the many days I had the pleasure of taking care of Beau I went in his room to give him a medicine (I
do not recall exactly what it was). Jennifer and I had just discussed earlier that day how Beau did not really like
to take anything by mouth other than Tylenol. This medicine was not Tylenol. I came into his room with my syringe
full of medicine and Beau looked up at me and asked me in his sweet little voice "Is that Tyenol" (his
way of saying Tylenol). I guess it was just one of those things that you had to be there for. Jennifer and I had
a good little laugh about it. We were amazed that he would ask such an appropriate question. I have many pleasant
memories of Beau and all of his family. I used to love to see him stand on his IV pole and ride around while Jennifer
pulled him. I think Jennifer has a picture of another nurse and me squatting down beside him while he was riding on
the IV pole. Take care and God bless all of you. 1 Peter 8: Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see
him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.
Beau
may not physically be with us now but he is still with us in our hearts, minds and memories. We love him
as much if not more now than we ever did. His memories live on in the halls of 2 West. I
imagine the nurses will never look at an IV pole the same. Our precious little warrior not only brought
love and joy to his family, he brought love and joy to all he met. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind.
God Bless!! Love, Grammy

THANK YOU TO SANTA & HIS HELPERS AND GUC Good evening all! This evening we want to take a moment to say some thank you to some very special people.
Once again this year, Santa was at the Brody Building visiting with children and taking pictures. He
raised over $800 which was donated to the ECU Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department in Beau’s memory.
As you may recall, Santa came to see Beau at his Christmas Party. He read “Twas the Night
Before Christmas” and handed out gifts. Santa has made many visits to Beau over the year.
We’d like to say a big thank you to Santa and his helper Kaylene for their time spent taking pictures and visiting
with children that Saturday and for donating the money in Beau’s memory. Santa and his helpers also
made fudge this year and sold it in support of Beau’s medical fund. Santa rose over $2,000 –
WOW that was a lot of fudge. We hope everyone enjoyed their fudge – Grammy sure did.
Here is another great big thank you to Santa and all his helpers. Our last thank you goes to Greenville
Utilities. Parham use to work for GUC and his former co-workers took up donations, invited Jennifer and
Parham to their Christmas luncheon and presented them with $1,500 to be used for whatever purpose they deemed necessary.
Jennifer and Parham were so surprised and appreciative of their love and support. Thank you so much
to all Parham’s former co-workers at GUC. What a blessing all these people, their love and support
have been to Jennifer and Parham. It was all very overwhelming to them. God Bless you
all!! Ephesians
1:16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. Beau’s family has been so blessed in so many ways over
the last year. So many people have been praying not only for Beau but for Jennifer and Parham and the rest
of the family. We have not stopped giving thanks for all of you and we remember you all in our prayers. We
hear so much bad in the news about what goes on in this world of ours when in fact there is SO MUCH GOOD that is going on.
Beau’s family has experienced this “good” and we will forever be grateful to everyone that has prayed for
this family, to everyone that has been there for us, that came to visit and support Jennifer and Parham and continue to support
them. God Bless you all!! Love, Grammy

Beau - An Angel Unaware Good afternoon all! I’ve shared many stories with you that have been shared with me about how Beau
touched the lives of people and forever changed them. I have another one to share with you.
G-Paw saw one of his friends yesterday that he hasn’t seen much of in the last few years. G-Paw
had seen him at the funeral home the night of Beau’s visitation. As it turned out, his friend’s
wife was a respiratory therapist at PCMH and worked with Jennifer. They came to the visitation and to the
funeral. When G-Paw saw him yesterday, he said to him, “you will never know what an impact Beau,
coming to his visitation and to the funeral had on me, my life and my relationship with my family. He said
I went home and loved on my kids until they thought I was crazy. He said knowing about Beau and what he
went through and seeing everything those two days made me want to change my life and the way I was living. Pastor
Gene’s sermon touched him so much it made him want to get his family back into church. He told G-Paw
his life would never be the same because of Beau. How awesome!!! Once again, God reach
out and thru Beau was able to touch not only this man but impact his family as well. I know you’ve
heard the saying you never know when you might meet an angel and not know it. Beau was one of those angels.
He was a missionary in God’s service – an undercover angel/missionary. As my sister
has said time and time again, Beau was the miracle the whole time we were praying for a miracle. He was
just a miracle in a different way than we were praying for. He was one of those angels that you are unaware
of but as the days unfold we see more and more how God used him. Matthew 13:2 Don’t forget to show hospitality to stranger,
for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it. How can we be sad when we look back and see
how much God used our little warrior in that year’s time to touch so many!! Just today one of his
Childlife friends left a message saying how much Beau had inspired her and continues to inspire her and that Beau’s
family had shown her the true meaning of the word “family”. God was using us all during that
year and we didn’t even realize it. Thank you for being such an awesome God. We
love you and praise your name. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Ice Cream Good afternoon it looks like winter is trying to come back after several days of spring like weather. I
continue to go thru my pictures and recalling so many memories. One thing we like to do on occasion was
to go to Cold Stone for ice cream. Jennifer, Beau, Kayla and Grammy would head off to Cold Stone to get
a delicious treat. Two occasions that come to mind was once when we went and Beau was being a real “cutup”.
He had on Jennifer’s sunglasses and was being Mr. Cool. We took pictures of him standing in
the seat. He had a ball that day. He was a real show off. Another time, more recent
was when he was in the hospital. We loaded him up in the wagon one afternoon and off we went to Cold Stone.
We cut thru the hospital’s parking lots and made a stop at Auntie Julie’s office on the way to say hi.
Several of Auntie Julie’s co-workers came out to the parking lot to see Beau. We made it to
Cold Stone and Grammy, Beau and Kayla waited outside while Jennifer went in to get the ice cream. Beau
always got vanilla with sprinkles. He ate a little of it and decided he wanted more. Jennifer
tried to get him to finish what he had but he would not do it so she had to go in and get another one. He
ate part of that one and wanted a new one. At this point in time, he was going thru this thing of wanting
his food to be “new” nothing eaten off it. He would take a bite of a French fry and want another
one, take a bite of cookie and want another one. He would eat the ends off these little stick like crackers
and not eat the middle. We finally gave up on the ice cream and headed back to the hospital.
By this time, folks were getting off work and everyone was honking their horns and waving at us. Beau
was his friendly little self and with that big smile was waving at everyone. 1 John 4:12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another,
God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. Beau was only two years old but he was full of love – the love that comes only
from God. Beau’s smile could melt you heart and light up a room. God was working
thru Beau it became obvious that God’s love was radiating from Beau to all he met and to all that worked with him every
day. Every time I past by Cold Stone, I think of Beau and Kayla and the fun times we had there with Beau eating vanilla ice
cream with sprinkles and Kayla eating strawberry ice cream. God Bless!
Love,
Grammy

Wednesday's ThoughtsGood evening all! I have another email I would like to share with you.
Wendy Modlin left this message on his guestbook. She didn’t know Beau but her husband is in
the same hunt club as Parham and her neighbor is a good friend of ours and a child life specialist at the clinic.
I never met Beau personally, but my husband helped with a Savannah Hunt this
year for Beau. My neighbor, Shannon, is a child life specialist at the hospital who talks about Beau on so many occasions.
I felt like I knew him because of the faith in God we all shared. I have never been so touched by another person whom
I have not met before. On the night of visitation my husband and I were standing in line to speak with Jennifer and
Parham. I have not met this family before but while in line, Parham's mother touched me on the arm. I was
upset and was crying. She put her hand on my arm, told me she understood and thanked us for coming. I couldn't
even speak to her. The love I felt through her touch reassured me that Beau's family was going to be at peace.
My son is two months older than Beau was and hearing this story has made me appreciate the smaller things even more.
I went home the night of visitation, held my sleeping child and wept until no more tears would fall. The legacy that
Beau has and that will continue is well beyond my imagination. So many people's lives have been touched by his story-
including mine. God bless the faithful!!!!!! I felt like I had to write SOMETHING after visiting this website
weekly, if not daily. I know my story is just one small story to share but I feel the presence of our Lord with each
and every update. I just wanted "Grammy" to know that your unending love and support has helped your family
and me as the grieving process for little Beau is not yet finished. Thanks for sharing your story, your life and
your time with all of us who continue to check the website. What a blessing it is to see others rejoice in the Father's
name. In Christian Love. I’ve had so many people tell me that they appreciate their children much more now because of hearing Beau’s
story. At the funeral home, so many people commented to me how strong Parham and Jennifer were even at
this most difficult time. God’s love and strength were radiating from them. Their
grief and pain was still there and still is but because of God’s love and their faith in God that are meeting each day
head on. We all are. The one thing that has helped me is knowing how much God used Beau
in this past year – how He used him to touch the lives of thousands of people – how He used him to strengthen
so many peoples’ faith and trust in Him. Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms
with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Have a blessed evening. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Tuesday's ThoughtsGood evening
everyone!! Wasn’t it a beautiful day out today? It sure didn’t feel like
January. I was reading back over some of the messages that have been left on Beau’s guestbook.
Lisa, one of Jen’s best friends-they have been friends since elementary school, left a message the day after
the funeral. Lisa is working on her Ph.D. at ECU and teaches some classes there as well. I
believe she teaches classes in the Child Development and Family Relations area. We’ve talked so much about how God used
Beau to touch the lives of so many over the past year. When Lisa went to class that Monday, she put aside
her planned lecture for that day and told her class about Beau. Once again, God used Beau in a unique way
to touch a classroom of college students. Here is what Lisa wrote. Well, Beau's legacy continued today in my class. Instead
of lecturing on the topic on the syllabus, I told what I knew of Beau's, and Jen and Parham's, and the whole family
story. I hope that was ok. I showed them the website. I spoke of the strength, courage, love, hope and faith that were at
the heart of this battle. I talked about a family who has opened their hearts to those around them because they recognized
how much others cared. I talked about how Parham and Jennifer were the epitome of what it means to parent and love a child.
The students were visibly moved, there were future child life specialists in the room, and other professions that I am sure
will remember Beau and this story, and I hope will carry it with them in their studies. I am not sure why I talked about this
today, but I know I felt like it was a small place where I could spread the message of love, strength, and hope that Beau
and his family have given me. Psalm 33:22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.
Psalm 84:5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you… Thank you Lisa for sharing Beau’s story with your class.
Once again, we see how important our family is especially in difficult times. Once again, we see how God
used “the least of us” a child to touch the lives of a diverse group of people. I know the
child life specialist students that were in this class will one day be working with kids just like Beau and they will be a
blessing to these kids just as the child life specialists on 2West were to Beau and his family. And, I
bet they will carry Beau’s story with them into their professional lives. Thank you Lord for bringing
this precious little boy into our lives. He was such a blessing to all that knew him. God
Bless!! Love, Grammy |

Trips to the ZooGood evening everyone!! You know I’ve been going thru my pictures over the last week.
I came across our pictures from our two trips to the zoo in Asheboro. Beau visited the zoo for the
first time when he was only a couple of months old. Mommy, Auntie Haley, Beau and Grammy made a day trip to the zoo in August
2006. I know you are probably saying well Beau was only 2 months old how could he enjoy the zoo.
You are right. I’m not sure he ever knew where he was. We went mostly for
Mommy, Auntie Haley and Grammy. It was a hot humid day but since a lot of the zoo is in the shade we were
ok. However, it did decide to rain part of the time so we pulled the hood up on Beau’s stroller and
cover it with a towel. We stopped and bought rain ponchos in one of the gift shops for the rest of us.
Some nice folks gave us a big garbage bag and we used that to cover up Beau’s stroller. It
did stop raining by the time we got on the tram to go back to our car. While we were riding on the tram,
we got some cute pictures of mommy, Beau and the monkey Grammy bought Beau. So all Beau really saw of the zoo the first time
he went was the inside of his stroller. He didn’t seem to mind it too much since he slept thru most
of it. This past summer Mommy, Beau, Auntie Julie, Kayla, Auntie Leslie and Grammy made another trip to
the zoo. This time there was no rain and Beau got to see everything. He was a real trooper
riding in his stroller. Kayla didn’t want to ride in hers most of the time so she would walk beside
Beau and we used her stroller to carry stuff. We saw lots of animals but they loved all the different monkeys
and the big apes I guess because they were 2 little monkeys themselves. Beau wore his camouflage hat and
crocs, a red shirt that had lions on it and of course he had his orange and green “pape”. He
looked like he was ready to go on a safari. Beau and Kayla were wide eyed and took everything in.
Of course, our lunch and dinner consisted of cheeseburgers and fries. What else would Beau and Kayla
eat!!! It was a wonderful day with lots of good memories. Ephesians 5:20 always giving thanks to God
the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We had a good time on both of our trips to the zoo. There
was nothing really outstanding about either trip that you would put “in the headlines.” But
the greatest thing was we were together having fun. We were blessed to have the time together being silly,
looking at the animals, acting like the monkeys, eating junk food and sharing our love for the day. Little
did we know on our first trip to the zoo what the future held and little did we know on our second trip to the zoo how much
time we had left to enjoy our time together. Beau was feeling good that day and God blessed us with a wonderful
day. When it is all said and done the only thing that really matters is your family and spending time with
them. You don’t have to go on any big fancy trip or spend lots of money. The time
spent together just being silly can be some of the most valuable time you will ever spend together. Thank
God today for your family and friends. Thank God for the time you have with them and make time in your
busy schedule to spend even more time with them. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

A Trip to the CircusGood afternoon!! It sure has been a beautiful afternoon hasn’t it!! I’ve
been going thru the gazillion pictures I’ve taken of Beau and Kayla over the last couple of years. As
I told you, I’m making Kayla a scrapbook as well as my sister Auntie Nay. The pictures bring back
so many memories and brought tears to my eyes. Tears because I miss my Little Beau Diddley so much, tears
because they were such good times, tears because I wish we could have more of those good times, and tears because I’m
selfish and I want him to still be here but I know he is not suffering, he is not on chemo, he is not taking that yucky medicine
any more. Our little warrior is healthy and happy at Jesus’ side in Heaven. He’s
Jesus little brother now. I know we talk about him being an angel but he’s really Jesus’ little
brother. Beau is actually up there now walking beside of Jesus and playing at his feet. I
found the pictures we took at the circus in February 2006. Jennifer, Beau. Julie, Kayla, Leslie and Grammy
went to the circus that day. We went early that day because the performers came out in the 3 rings to do
some tricks and stunts and meet with the fans. Beau wasn’t afraid of anything. He had his picture
taken with one of the clowns and the clown even took the hair off his head and let Beau wear it for the picture.
As always, Beau had his “pape” in his mouth in the picture. Kayla was afraid of the
clowns but we did manage to get one picture of her with the clown. Beau sat mesmerized during the whole
show. I’m not sure he even blinked the whole time. He sat and watched everything so intently the whole time.
He had the “wide eye wonder” that only kids can have. Even thought he was only 8 months
old at the time, I really think he knew everything that was going on. He would laugh and smile and clap
during the show. Of course, later we had to have McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries. It
was a fun filled day and a day we will never forget. We’ve got pictures to keep those memories alive
in our hearts. 1
Thessalonians 5:16-18 & 25 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for
this is God’s will for your in Christ Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Sometime it is hard to be joyful. You may
wake up today and say what do I have to be joyful about today? We all have a lot to be thankful for if
we just stop and think about it. God’s Word instructs us that God is in control, he is providing
for and working out all of the circumstances in our lives. We may not always understand why things are
happening as they are, we may never understand why our little Beau Diddley had to leave us so soon but God has been and will
be in control. One day when we meet Him face to face in Heaven we can ask Him but until then we will have
to trust God. If we let Him, God wants to be intimately involved in our life. He is
working out His purposes through the events in our lives. We may not understand it but we must have faith,
trust and patience. We love you our precious little Beau Diddley. Have fun today with
your big brother Jesus. Know that a part of our hearts will forever be with you. God
Bless!! Love, Grammy

Litte Red WagonsGood evening all! I hope everyone had a great day. As you may recall, Jennifer
and Parham donated Beau’s precious red wagon to 2 West. They took the one wagon 2 West had and had
it fitted with an IV pole. The staff of 2 West told Jennifer they would like to have 2 more wagons so Jennifer went on line
and found them and ordered two more. Granddad Miller purchased the IV poles and Uncle Josh did the welding
to fit those two wagons with IV poles. Jennifer and her dad took them to 2 West yesterday.
They were so glad to see Jennifer and everyone still misses Beau. They are keeping his memory alive
because they talk about him all the time. They are going to have plaques made to go on the wagons.
They haven’t decided what will be on the plaques yet but they want to call them something. One
thing they have thought about was “Beau’s Taxi”. We’ll let you know once they decide
what they are going to put on the plaques. Beau’s wagon was very special to him. Granddad
& Grandma Miller gave him the wagon. Little did they know at the time just how much that wagon would
come to mean to Beau. He spent countless hours in that wagon and we had some adventures in it as well.
We’ll go back share those times with you at a later date. What a special legacy Beau will
leave on 2 West – little red wagons specially equipped with IV poles so other children can ride and enjoy themselves
as much as Beau did. Beau will live forever on 2 West because of those wagons. I want
to share a poem “Rejoice” by Anna Waring. In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall
fear; and safe is such confiding, for nothing changes here. The storm may roar without me, my heart may
low be laid, but God is round about me, and can I be dismayed? Wherever He may guide me, no fear shall
turn me back; My Shepherd is beside me, and nothing shall I lack. His wisdom ever waketh, His sight is
never dim; He knows the way He taketh, and I will walk with Him. Green pastures are before me, which yet
I have not seen; Bright skies will soon be o’er me, where darkest clouds have been. My hope I cannot
measure, my path to life is free; my Savior is my treasure, and He will walk with me. Psalm
23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Beau was God’s little lamb. And, like
all good shepherds do with their little lambs, Jesus carried Beau on His shoulders those last two days until He had him out
of pain and suffering. When Jesus had Beau out of the “trouble times”, He put him down and
Beau ran and played – healthy, happy and pain free. God is our shepherd as well. He
will see us thru the difficult days in the months ahead. He will carry us thru the hurts and the pain.
He will restore our souls and bring us comfort and peace. Give God your hurts and let Him walk you
thru them. God Bless!! Love, Grammy

Beau - A Little LightGood afternoon!! I hope you are all staying warm in this cold weather. I
was reading a devotional this week and it talked about us “being a light”. I thought about
it for a while and realized Beau was a “little light” to us all. You know how pitch black dark
it can be when all the lights go out but if you light just one little candle the room is illuminated with that little light.
Beau was like a little light – lighting up the room with his smile and sunny disposition. Now
mind you, he could be “cloudy some days” but that was when he was feeling bad. But, most of the time he was out
“little light.” I’ve heard his nurses say over and over how he brightened up their day.
He would play “peak a boo” with them, would laugh when Ms. Louise did her silly dance, would smile and
say “hey” to everyone that walked by his door. He would share his candy with all that came
into his room. When we were at “Malmart” he would say hey to people passing by.
Beau was even a “little light” to all that read his webpage. Our little warrior may be with Jesus now but
his light shines on in all that loved him and knew him. We will keep his light shining bright everyday
by sharing his love with all we meet. I have another poem I want to share with you. I don’t know
who the author was. God looked around his garden and he found
an empty place. He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face. He put
his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain. He knew you would
never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so
He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.” It broke our hearts to lose
you but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
Psalm 136:1 Give thanks
to the Lord for he is good. His love endures forever. 7-9 who made the great
lights—his love endures forever. The sun to govern the day, His love endures forever. The moon and
stars to govern the night; His love endures forever. Beau’s light will live on in his mommy, daddy, and the rest of his family
and friends. His light will be eternal because of the love he gave to all that came in touch with him.
Let your light shine today!!! God Bless! Love, Grammy

FAITH - PEACE - HOPEGood evening all! It sure was cold outside today. Kayla told me Beau wanted
it to snow and God was going to make it snow in 2 weeks. I guess we’ll wait and see what the weather
is like in 2 weeks. I’ve been going thru my pictures picking out ones so I can make Kayla a scrapbook
so she will have a pictorial record of her time with Beau. After Beau was born and before Julie went back
to work, we would take the kids and go to Logan’s for lunch on Fridays. We always got the same round
booth in the corner. It became “our booth”. Of course, in the beginning,
Beau just sat in his carrier but as he got older he would sit in the little seat Jennifer bought him. He
and Kayla would color and play while we waited for our food. He loved the yeast rolls and as he got older
he would sometimes eat as many as 2 of them. He loved his fries so he always had some of those.
The table, booth seats and floor around it were always a mess when we left. Everyone knew we had
been there when we left. We took Kayla there for her birthday this past April. Beau
and Kayla laughed and kissed on each other and had the best time while we were there. We got some cute
pictures of them together that day. Kayla loved to kiss on him. He didn’t seem
to mind at least most of the time he didn’t. Somehow this particular day, they each ended up
with a dollar. They wanted to walk when we left so we made them hold hands. I had forgotten
about that until Julie told me yesterday she had found some cute pictures of them walking together holding hands and they
each had a dollar in their hands. They both loved money and every time Beau would see Jen with money he
would want some. It didn’t matter if it was change or a dollar he just wanted money.
He was a smart boy wasn’t he? Beau was blessed thru out his year of chemo. Considering
what he had, he did well with his treatments and really wasn’t that sick most of the time at least not until the last
month of so. We had lots of good times eating at Logan’s and going to Cold Stone for ice cream.
Good memories that we will always have especially since we took a gazillion pictures. I can’t
begin to image how many pictures we did take considering Grandma Miller, Ma, Mommy and Grammy always had their cameras snapping
pictures wherever we went. Romans 5:1-5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we
rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we
know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope. And hope does not
disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. It is very hard losing someone you love, especially when it’s
a child. At the moment, we can’t even imagine how we will get thru it or how we will ever see what
good could possibly come from this grief. But, if you trust in God, keep the faith in Him and in what He
has promised, cling to Him, then He will see you thru this difficult time. He can bring you peace –
peace that only He can bring. We become stronger because of the trials we go thru, our character will grow
and develop and we will have hope for the days ahead. God didn’t make Beau sick but He took a bad
situation and used Beau to touch the lives of so many. God also use this situation to help Beau’s
family grow stronger in their faith and trust in Him. There have been many difficult days for Jennifer
and Parham but they have kept their faith in God and He is getting them thru one day at a time. I know
God is getting us all thru this one day at a time. Again, thanks so much to everyone that continues to
pray for Beau’s family. They do mean so much. God Bless!! Love,
Grammy

His Journeys Just Begun
Good evening all and Happy New Years!!!
It is now 2008 – can you believe that? A new year – what will it bring?
Happy New Year Beau!! I know you are looking down on us today and sending all your love especially
to mommy and daddy. After Beau was born and Jennifer went back to work, Beau stayed with Ma and on occasion
if Jen was working on a Friday he would stay with Grammy and Kayla. Ma has a lot of stories about her time
with Beau and she shared one recently on Beau’s site. All kids love playing in the rain and our little
Beau Diddley was no exception. He was a typical little boy and here is Ma’s memory of rainy days with Beau. Beau loved to play in the rain. He kept his little green
and blue umbrella in our garage. When it was raining, he would rush out and get his umbrella and ask me to open an outside
door to the garage. He would run in and out of the garage laughing and squealing and having so much fun. He seemed to never
tire of it. I just know Beau loves it when God sends us rain. Ma the next time it rains put up Beau’s little green and blue umbrella and
run in and out of the rain a couple of times for him. I know he would love to see you running in the rain
enjoying yourself for him. I want to share a poem with you written by Ellen Brenneman. His Journey’s Just Begun Don’t think of him as gone away-his journeys just begun;
life holds so many this earth is only one. Just think if him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in
a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing that we could
know, today, how nothing but out sadness can really pass away. And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched….
for nothing loved is every lost---- and he was loved so much. Beau was loved so much by so many. Dana one of his nurses on 2 West left a message
yesterday and said every time she goes into Beau’s favorite rooms on 2 West she thinks of him and every day she works
someone mentions Beau. She said “Beau is definitely still alive in our hearts”.
Dana is right – Beau will live on forever because we carry those memories in our hearts and we will continue
to talk about him and share those memories. The poem is right. He will never be lost or gone because he
was loved so much by so many and will live on forever in our hearts. Psalm 84:10 Better is one day in your courts (heaven) than a thousand
elsewhere….. God
Bless!! Love, Grammy
